Project Life 2013: Week 8

Half Term Holidays can be so much fun.

Monday we headed off to a National Trust – Cliveden House. We started from the Woodlands Car Park and walking into the estate before enjoying a coffee. We walked around the grounds, through the maze and playpark, before heading back to the car park – 5 miles was exhausting but fun.

Tuesday was spend with Friends in our local park and on the scooter/ramp park. We’ve also been lucky with the un-usual warm weather. Phil and Tom ventured out of a bike ride in the afternoon. Such lovely weather

Wednesday we headed off to York with a school friend to visit the Jorvik Viking Museum. I have to admit it is interesting, but i’m not sure if the wait outside (in the freezing cold) or the shortness of the attraction that makes it a bit disappointing. Luckily we had found a free child voucher on-line before we left. It was Viking Week in York and Tom just as much enjoyed all the free attractions. After lunch we found some Sword Combat Training in The Merchant Adventurer’s Hall, they kids loved it. Such a fab day, just ashame it was bitter cold.

Thursday – Homework and a day chilling at home after Tom miss-behaved a bit yesterday. He has been told how we feel and now has to earn treats. We visited Great Gran and Granny and Grandad Moore

Friday – we took a drive out to a cold Buxton in the Peak District. We enjoyed playing the Yellow Car Game on Route – Tom won by: 19, Phil 18, Tracey 10.  (I’m hoping to include this in a future week). We enjoyed coffee and feeding the ducks in the Pavilion Gardens. On the way to tea we found a park (Whitworth) in Darley Dale where Tom enjoyed riding his scooter on the bowl. For tea we met up with Aunty Clare and Uncle Matt. I can’t believe how cold it was today, brrrrrrr – it even started snowing!

Saturday – was a girls day Scrapbooking, Tom played nicely while we all enjoyed our challenge of making a list about us to match our age. Thanks for joining me Clare and Liz. Lets hope next time we meet one of you can come up with a challenge. See my previous blogs for the pages I made. We also had friends visit for take-out Chinese tea.

Sunday – Phil and Tom head out to the local ramp park for Tom to practice more on his Scooter, I was cleaning the house. After a cooked Sunday lunch Toms friend came to play while we enjoyed tea and a natter. Tonight has been playing board games before returning to work tomorrow.

Phew – what a fab week!!!!!!

I’ve found this week hard with little motivation for completing the page so i’m pleased I’m finished. Having said that I am enjoying the challenge of documenting my week. Ive managed to catch up with being a week behind, I wonder what the future holds. :) :)

Project Life 2013: Week 7

Happy Pancake & Valentines Week!!!!

What a fun filled week we have had.

The week started with making Pancakes. Tom couldn’t wait to flip the pancake and also fill them. This year we had a choice of fillings (of cause Tom wanted to try them all in one pancake!!):
  • Sugar
  • Lemon
  • Orange
  • Chocolate Spread
  • Chocolate chucks

Tom made two cards Valentine cards to give to friends, he made them himself and was very excited. He also got a handmade one in return. :)

My Valentine card was downloaded from here. Thanks to Leslie Miller fofor the free download. X

The weekend is the start of Half Term so we headed to our friend Nigel’s for a sleepover and a trip to London. On Saturday Tom wanted to visit the Dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum. It’s such a wonderful building – a must for everyone visit. The queues for the London Eye were massive, so we took a walk to Piccadilly for donuts instead. The boys also entertained themselves playing live Top Car Trumps.

I’ve included the tube ticket behind the journaling.

On Sunday we head to Brooklands Museum for the day. It would have been such an inspiring circuit, and a massive shame it is not in use today. We stayed all day and still didn’t have enough time to visit concord, looks like we will be going back again. :)

This week I’ve also added an insert to keep some of the memorabilia from the weekend. The long landscape photo was taken on Phil’s Samsung phone. It shows the entrance to the Museum.

Thanks to Nigel for putting us up and for coming out with us, a very fab start to our half term holidays. What will the next week have in store?

Ponderosa: 1985

I haven’t completed a 12×12 page in months!!! Although I’ve had this page ready i’ve been too tied up with December Daily and Project Life – but that’s no excuse.

Today my sister-in-law and sister came around for a scrapbook day. We had loads and loads of fun and giggles too.

I managed to finish this page which brings back some lovely memories. Every year when I was a child me and my grandmother Lily would take a trip to visit my aunty and uncles house over the summer holidays. In 1985 after visiting the garden (I was 11) I went back to my Aunty’s house and drew the garden on some paper. Last year when going through some of her old photos she gave me the picture. Such lovely memories as the garden was soooo beautiful. The photos were taken in 1987 I think by my dad or Aunty and shows my little sister, cousin, aunty and grandmother lily in them

I hand stitched the sewing

To save the picture I scanned it in.

Thanks for the lovely memories Aunty Jen!!!

The idea came off the internet – printed in draft – i’m afraid I’ve got no link.

Thanks for a fab day Clare and Liz x x

Project Life 2013: Week 6

Happy Pancake Day – Shrove Tuesday!!!!!!

With half-term fast approaching I know I have a busy week ahead, so I thought it best to wrap up last week quickly.

Monday 4th February to Sunday 10th February 2013.
It was actioned packed as usual this week, with the biggest highlight for Tom – the arrival of his Brand New SLAMM Scooter.

All week Tom was asking when he can go and test out on the scooter. And what was the weather like at the weekend, you’ve guessed it – cold and wet!!!! But yes you’re right that didn’t stop him. I suspect we will be spending quite a few hours down the local park this year. He He.

I’m sorry for the quality of the pictures I promise to take better photos in the daylight next week and replace these.

Last Friday we headed into town after school/work and met up with our friend Nigel to see what Nottingham Night Light had to offer. There were some good things around the city, but it was cold and Tom was hungry so we enjoyed a trip to the new Red Hot World Buffet restaurant. And WOW what a choice of food!!!

I’m also pleased that I managed to get into one the pictures this week.

It was nice to take Great Gran out for lunch on Saturday, and to watch the boys play Scalextric in the afternoon. Lots of timing and racing took place.

A couple of my fav pictures this week are:

Phil and Tom reading a bedtime story laughing (you could hear them giggling through out the house). They were reading the Owl Who is Afraid of the Dark. (Think I might add a tab behind saying just that), and

The excitement of Tom when he was opening his long awaited new Scooter.

Useful facts……

  • Tesco printed photos v Epson home printing.
  • I’m using Project Life Album by Becky Higgins and Page Protectors A and D
  • I have paint brushed out a photo this week as the person involved did not want their picture posted on the website. This has still allowed me to share my week.

I will be posting a link on The Mom Creative website. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Thank you for looking.

Project Life 2013: Week 5

Yehhhh another week completed and I’m loving this project.
Monday 28th January to Sunday 3rd February 2013.

Back to more routine this week.

For me this week I’m loving the fact that its the start of a brand new month.
My little boy is growing up and is starting to understand the value of money. I’m really pleased he saved hard for a Scooter and he understood getting the best price. I wonder what will be on his wish list next with the money he saved buying off the internet?!

I added text to some of this weeks photos. Some worked and some didn’t but it was good to try something different.

We’ve found if you go to our local Cinema at the weekend to the family film it’s a fraction of the price. We went as a family and none of us had seen the movie “ParaNorman”, and boy did we laugh Such a lovely way to spending a cold and wet Sunday, and lovely to hear Tom laughing and laughing out loud – Priceless.

Project Life 2013: Week 4

Its more snow again this week. :)

Monday we had another approx 10cm of snow and driving to work was a nightmare.
The rest of the week was routine as normal, then more snow and sledging on Saturday.
Sunday was about family while the boys took a quick visit to Warwick Castle with our annual passes.

I’m really pleased with my progress and I’m chuffed that so far i’m keeping upto date.
I can’t believe February is just around the corner. I will try some more new techniques this month – to see what I like best.

You will also see that with a little twisting of Phil’s arm I got him to take a photo and write about it too. I’m pleased this is something all the family can get involved with.

I also got this handy hint from one of the websites that I follow about making a sketch so you know which photos to print – this works great for me. Next week I will try and add hints & quotes that I would like to write about.

I have used Tesco’s 24hour photo service again this week to print out my 4×6 prints. On the first page I’ve also made a blue colour box for added text too. I’m hoping I can change the colours as the weeks go by and use this again.

I’ve posted this page on Project Life Tuesday on www.themomcreative.com if you like what you see or have any hints or good suggestions please leave a comment.

Thanks for looking :) I look forward to seeing you comments. x

Project Life 2013: Week 3

I’m loving Project Life!!!

This week it’s all about SNOW and more sledging.

I’ve also managed to catch up which is very motivating, I might even be able to finish off my December Diary now.

The first page is about the daily activities in the week. I will add a few arrows and notes but for now I’m happy. (Perhaps not as happy as when my project life arrived!!! My husband made me wait until after dinner and Tom was in bed before I opened my package) Cheekie!!

It’s great how the snow brings out the kid in you. The giggles and laughing and the shooting down the slopes on your sledge. I know we enjoyed it all. We were extremely lucky that the snow fell Friday evening and we got to play all weekend. :) :) :)

Bring on next week and more snow please. x

The Photos of Tom on the second page. is one of my favs His red rosy cheeks and innocent smile. Fab.

Project Life 2013: Week 2

Week 2
7th – 13th January 2013

Phew I can’t believe I’ve completed another week. It’s not the big pictures I am struggling with – its the creativity and small 4×3 notes.

This week was about normal routine and back to school.

Tom looks so grown up and he’s certainly ready for school after a 2 week break. Wednesday he had a sickness bug so it was a day at home with sleep, sofa and tv/film.
We had to go out on Thursday for new school shoes and trainers as he has grown a size in 4 months since September. Now all we need to do is learn how to tie laces.

The weekend was action packed with meeting up with the Moore family for Liz’s birthday and Sunday was a gentle walk for freshair and a big of sunshine.

Another week gone and more snow planned for next week, bring it on.

I’ve used 2 downloads this week.

  1. Another school 4×3 from Kimberly Kalil .
  2. I also found some lovely monthly 4×6 journal cards from Valorie Brown Designs.com. I will be using more of these over the weeks to come.

Thanks for looking. x

Project Life 2013 : Week 1

Week 1
31st December – 6th January 2013

Well here goes the first week. It was harder than I thought. For me it was difficult choosing the photos as we have been on school holiday and been up to lots of nice things.

Two of the main highlights of the week were:

  • New Years Eve Party at Pams house.
  • Visiting Sheffiled Arena to watch the world indoor x-trail championship.

I’ve had lots of fun printing out the photos, and with the help of a sketch at the start it made the process easier. I found this advice from a website somewhere – very helpful.

I have printed some of the 6×4 photos at Tesco’s 24hr photo service as I was getting some normal yearly album photos printed.

I’ve also included a download (Hello 2003!) from This Kalil Life . I love the clean cut designs of the 4×3 cards. Thanks loads, I love them all, keep an eye out for these in future weeks too.

The Twenty Thirteen is going to be Awesome card is from A bit of this & a bit of that blog.
I will keep an eye out for future freebies too!!

I’m working hard on getting up to date so I’m off to finish off my Week 2 page. :) x
