Description:
Parked Laz's car at Penzance Harbour car park (£4 per day) & drove to Lamorna in Den's car to start the walk (£5 per day). Steady ascent from Lamorna Harbour to Carn-du point with good views of Carn Barges and Tater-du Lighthouse. Steep descent from Carn-du Point past Kemyel Crease Nature Reserve (See video on Youtube). Very warm walking in sunshine between coastal bushes up steep slope past Penzer Point and on to lane overlooking Point Spaniard. Another steady descent down tarmac lane past Animal Rescue Sanctuary into Mousehole Fishing Village. The perfectly preserved village centre around the perfect little harbour. Unfortunately other visitors, not on foot, but by motor vehicles, had arrived in their hundreds, making the village unsightly and full of fumes, instead of the perfumes from the many hanging baskets. After shopping for more souvenirs we continued on the coastal path along a tarmac road to Penlee Point and the Lifeboat Station. This reminded us of the disaster in 1981 when 8 members of the lifeboat 'Solomon Browne' and several stricken sea fairers lost their lives at sea. As we neared Newlyn we transferred from the tarmac footpath next to the road, to a path along the shore. This path led to a neglected promenade where we were surprised to hear the sounds and cries of the local rowing race along the shoreline of the Gwavas Lake and St Michael's Mount Bay. We continued along the promenade to the full, but deadly quiet and still, Newlyn Harbour. Here we enjoyed our sandwiches on two benches overlooking the bay. Then we tasted the delights of the local beer (Tinners), in the 'Fisherman's Arms Inn' with its speciality of ceiling curiosities handing from every square inch of space of the pub's ceiling. When fully re-charged we continued along the rocky front into Penzance, past the dry docked lugger 'SS19 Ripple', Wherry Town, Chimney & Battery Rocks to the harbour. Here we conclude our walk with a visit to the Lifeboat Station Shop next to the harbour.
Another excellent day's walk concluded an excellent week's holiday in West Cornwall England.

Hazards: The coastal path is always dangerous when there are steep drops to the beach and sea. Take care also when the path is steep with many trip hazards of protruding stones and bolders. These dangers are more important towards the end of the day when the body is tired after a long walk. The mind may not be tired, still enjoying the wonderful views in all directions, but the body will surely be weary and susceptive to errors.
