AA Walks Haddian's Wall Crag Lough
Highshield Crags Housesteads Fort Milecastle 37-39
Description:
I started from Housesteads National Trust car park. Sylvia was reading a book in the car. I was sheltered by Housesteads wall on the path to the Wall. I walked on the Wall along Cuddys Crags. There were good views to the north and south. I passed Milecastle 37 and along Hotbank Crags to Hot Bank Farm. It was a steep descent past Hot Bank Farm and a path diversion to Highshield Crags. Views were excellent at Crag Lough along Highshield Crags to Steel Rigg. The Wall route was very undulating with steep climbs from Housesteads to Steel Rigg car park. I returned to Hot Bank Farm along a Roman military way. The weather improved slightly and views became great in all directions.  I had memories of the walk along the Wall while completing the Pennine Way. The weather deteriorated as I approached Housesteads again and rain started as I entered the car park. .
