I parked the car in the village between '2' and '3' by the hotel and shops. The car park was not found, it was now a new, small industrial estate. Sylvia was in the car reading a book. It was an easy walk down the lane to Terrace Walk. The last oak was easy to find because of tell-tale information board and props holding up the old branches. The river bank was very overgrown for the whole length of the Terrace Walk. It was difficult to see a clear view of the Eastwood building across the River Tay. I needed to walk up and down the river bank several times to find a leaf-free view. I followed the end of the field around to track at '7'. I followed the track to the main road and turned right past the 'Welcome to Birnam & Dunkeld' sign. The games field was blow cereal crops. No sewage farm entrance or gate was found before the main road. The path at '10' was not very obvious at first. It's advisable to cross the main A9 trunk road with extreme care, especially in bad weather. The railway arch after the A9 was in very poor condition, more attention is urgently required. I turned right soon after a short steep gradient, immediately following the arch onto the good path of the 'Birnam Hill Walk'. I passed two groups of mature, tall fir trees. I passed a bank of ferns growing in a 'V' shape pattern. Rhododendrons were very picturesque on the path before a tarred road and at '15'. At '16' I took the first right after a railway bridge which leads to the railway station. I then took the first right after passing under the A9 bridge back to Station Road. The car park recommendation was not found because of changes to the area when the new A9 bypass was built. Obviously the parking space was for the station, but the station is not on the opposite side of the A9 road. No red squirrels were spotted. I visited the Beatrix Potter garden and exhibition after the walk.
