General:
After a gentle stroll around Killearn Glen with the other halves, Eddie & I decided to conquer the steep slopes of Dumgoyne. We parked on the rough ground opposite the track by Glengoyne Distillery. The track is rough for vehicles and climbs Blairgar Glen, passes the homesteads of Easterton & Blairgar. We soon reached the end of the track and entered a field of grazing sheep. Leaving the trees surrounding the track we had our first sighting of the steep summit from the field. At the top of the field is a stile which takes the walker directly on to the moorland of the Strathblane hills, with the summit immediately ahead. From the stile the journey is almost directly up. A grass clod grabbing puff to the summit. Once the summit is reached, after a few gasping stops, the view is worth the effort. Panoramic views from east Glasgow to the Munro peaks of Stuc a' Chroin & Ben Vorlich, via west Glasgow, Loch Lommond, Ben Lommond and Loch Ard Forest. There is also a good view of Duntreath Castle and the route of the West Highland Way. From the summit Eddie ran back to Balfron along his almost daily route, while I descended slowly and directly back to the car, passing Glengoyne Distillery. If you have more time I recommend a visit to the distillery.

Hazards: Ascend this steep mountain at your own pace. The views can be enjoyed much more if you take your time.
