Description:
Sylvia was in the car reading a book. Free parking was available in St Thomas's Square. It was a varied walk including Lampeter Heritage Walk. Take care to include the university detour at the start of the walk, which I missed as I walked straight down College Street. There was no railway line after '5'. I chatted to a carpenter restoring a stile at '8'. He asked if I was a regular walker and I said “When the wife let's me.” He said to let him know when I reached Australia. As he dug a hole for the stile leg, I said that he was going the shortest route. There were excellent views from '8' to '14' via Castell Allt-Goch. The iron-age settlement ramparts were very low as banks and ditches had smoothed over the centuries. I passed wood carving figures at the farm at '12'. One figure was partly completed. There were plenty of children's toys around the farm, but nobody to be seen. The return path to Lampeter was a quiet country lane in the River Teifi valley. Great care was required on the lane as there were high hedges but no path, which added to the danger of speeding vehicles at blind corners. There was no railway bridge on the lane just before Brundrift Church. On the corner after University college there was a war memorial, with a stone circle behind it. In stone circle park was a guides sculpture. There were pond skating insects by the bridge in the stream at '5'.
