General:
Usual Christmas Day Feast by all the family, this year at Tracey and Philip's new house, and as Boxing Day's (26th December) weather forecast was good, we decided to walk off some of the pudding at Rufford Abbey. With two full car loads and Sylvia & Gran at Tracey's house watching the chocolates, we arrived at Rufford Abbey car park at noon. Geoff found a good parking spot near the entrance ready for a easy exit if necessary. We put our coats & boots on and released William the dog from the rear of the hatchback. From the car park we walked on a good path and track to the lake through the woods. As the car park was busy so the paths were busy with lots of dog walkers. It was a struggle at times to keep William away from the other dogs. Never the less still a pleasant walk in the sun. From the lake we walked alongside the Abbey ruins to the gardens. Next to no flowers at this time of year but still plenty of sculptures to keep us amused. See photographs for the variety of sculptures. We slowly returned to the car and drove home to a welcome cup of tea.

Hazards: Always keep the dog on a lead when walking in public areas. There's always another dog not under control around the next corner. Good footpaths can be slippery when wet in the winter season. Always be aware.
