Description:
There was good parking in the National Trust car park overlooking cliffs to a sandy beach (£2 for non-members.) Sylvia was reading a book in the car. It was a steep descent to the beach using concrete steps, then hard going across soft sand for the whole length of the beach. The tide was out and there was no firm sand near the top of the beach. There was a broad gap by cliffs at ‘3’. I ignored the track to the left and took the track straight ahead. The path was very busy with walkers and holidaymakers heading for the beach. Across two of the inlets there were long, narrow bridges. It was very difficult to navigate across with so many people walking in the opposite direction. There were no signs visible of the Iron Age camp as it was overgrown. The car park in Bosherton was nearly full, including a coach. I visited St Michael’s church and found the ‘squint window’ interesting: it was a small opening cut through the chancel wall at an angle, allowing worshippers in the side chapel to see the altar. It was an easy walk back to the beach where there were less walkers on the western side of the inlets. Another hard walk followed across the soft sand back to the car park.
