|||||
Pennine Way No.16 Total: 242.50 miles Description:At Bellingham Eddie walked to Hareshaw Linn Waterfall. I wish I had accompanied him. Hostel was an old wooden building with males at one end and females at the other. Waterproofs required, drizzle for first few miles. Eddie ran to the summit of Padon Hill. Moors very open and barren. Amazing amount of flies on entry and within Redesdale Forest. Interesting walk along River Rede. Welcome tea and supper at café before search for hostel. Pint in hotel before early kip. Walker arrived late at hostel on his knees after walking from Kirk Yetholm. He recommended we did not attempt the journey. Location: Start of Walk Hazards: Care required from M6320, especially in bad weather. Featureless country with few walls or fences to follow. Obvious forestry track to follow in Redesdale Forest. Take care to follow path from Blakehopeburnhaugh to Cottonshopeburn Foot alongside river. Boggy in places even after dry spell.
