AA Walks Grasmere St Oswald's Church
Rydal Water Rydal Mount Loughrigg Terrace
Nab Scar Dove Cottage St Mary's Cottage
Description:
Excellent views of lakes and surrounding mountains. Started on car park on A591 between Grassmere and Rydal Water. Difficulty finding path around point '11'. First walked to bridge over River Rothay between lakes. Returned to car park and walked up wrong lane on west side of car park. Eventually found steep track from east side of car park climbing towards the north. Joined tarmac road at top of track and walked past Dove Cottage to main road. Stopped on Grasmere side of main road by a water trough to take a photograph with Helm Crag in the distance. Clare could not see the "Lion and the Lamb" ont he summit. Grasmere busy with tourists. Large cave entrance visible on the slopes of Loughrigg Fell from track between '10' and '11'.

Location Map: - www.streetmap.co.uk, - Start: from Grasmere

Hazards:
Parking can be very difficult in Grasmere despire larde car park. Care required between '6' & '7', many tracks on side of fell. After '7' take care on rocky outcrop by side of lake, can be very slippy. Start on track from '10' is obvious, but may not appear so.
